| Chocolate Pie 1 baked 9 inch pastry shell, cooled1 can sweetened condensed milk2 (1-oz) squares unsweetened chocolate1/4 teaspoon salt1/4 cup hot water1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract1 cup (1/2 pint) heavy cream, whipped. In the top of double boiler, combine sweetened condensed milk, chocolate and saltCook over hot water; stir constantly, until mixture is very thickGradually add water; stir to keep mixture smoothContinue to cook 2-5 minutes, or until mixture thickens againStir frequentlyRemove from heatStir in vanilla extractChill mixture in refrigerator or over ice water until coolFold whipped cream into cooled chocolate mixturePour into pastry shellRefrigerate about 4 hoursIf desired, garnish with additional whipped cream, Shaved chocolate or chopped nuts. | |
