Chocolate Fried Pies



½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup all purpose flour

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup milk

2 tbsp butter or margarine

½ tsp vanilla

2 cups pkg biscuit mix

1/3 cup milk

Cooking oil for shallow-fat frying

Sifted powdered sugar

In saucepan combine granulated sugar, flour, and cocoa powder

Stir in the ½ cup milk and butter or margarine

Cook and stir till bubbly

Cook 1 minute more

Stir in vanilla

Cool

Combine the biscuit mix and 1/3 cup milk

On a floured surface roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness

Cut ten 4 inch circles

Place about 1 tbsp filling in center of each circle

Fold over, press edges together with tines of fork

In skillet heat 1 inch cooking oil to 375

Fry pastries, several at a time, 2 minutes per side or till golden

Cool

Sprinkle with powdered sugar

Makes 10
