Clay Pot Cow
This craft project is recommended for kids
ages 9 and up.
This cute cow is a fun and easy craft project for kids. The project needs some time for the paint and glue to dry, but otherwise is completed within an afternoon. Parents may wish to help out and glue the head to the clay pot using hot glue. This will speed the drying process of the glue. |

For this project all you need is:
- Small clay pot - Styrofoam ball measuring 40mm (1.6”) - black and white acrylic paint - pink, black and white construction paper or cardstock - black dimensional paint or black marker - red paper ribbon - small bell - strong craft glue or hot glue gun (caution!)
Template for cow’s face, horns and ears
Instructions:
1. Paint the clay pot and Styrofoam ball white and let them dry. Once the clay pot is dry, paint black spots over it to resemble a cow‘s coat and again let the paint dry.
2. Print the patterns to the size needed and cut them out of the appropriate colored paper.
3. Glue the head to the pot. Cut 2 slits in the top of the head for the ears and 2 slits for the horns. Place a small amount of glue on the ears and horns and insert them in the slits.
4. Draw 2 nostrils and a mouth on the pink face piece either with black marker or dimensional paint. Glue onto cow’s face.
5. Draw or paint the cow 2 eyes.
6. When head/body glue is dry, tie a red bow with a cow bell around the neck and make a pretty bow.
