| Easy Yarn Flowers Yarn flowers and cattails require one 70 yard skein of Heavy Rug Yarn in pink, light rose, green and brown.One skein makes approximately three flowersYou will also need medium florists wire and glue Peonies:Open darker shade of pink, cut through yarn at one end.Lay yarn out flat on work area and cut into 5-1/2 inch lengthsDo same for lighter shade of yarn, only cut into 3-1/2 inch lengthsTake 1 section of darker shade for bottom of flowerPlace 2 sections of lighter shade in center of darker shade Fold a piece of wire in half (make wire long enough to allow for stem after twisting to make flower)Place in center of cut sections of yarn and twist wire together tightlyTo make flower fluffy, unwind or untwist each strand of yarnShake and trim flowers Stems:Glue one end of green yarn directly to wire underneath flowerTwist and wrap to end of wire until coveredGlue end Cattails:Open brown skein and cut in half, set aside two strands cut into 8 inch lengthsCut remainder of skein into 1-1/2 inch sections (8 to 10 sections for each cattail)Fold wire in half, take one 8 inch length and wind on each side of fold for an inchTie ends together 1 inch from topTake one section of 1-1/2 inch strands, place between wires, twist wires tightly togetherRepeat this last step until cattail is length desired (around 5-1/2 to 6 inches)TrimCover stem in same way as for Peony | |
