Oatmeal Bread


1 cup oatmeal, quick

2 cups boiling water

1/2 cup molasses

1-1/2 tsp salt

6 cups flour

1 tbsp melted fat

1 or more yeast cakes softened in 1/2 cup Luke warm water



Let oats steam in the boiling water for about 15 minutes

When cool add the yeast, the molasses, salt and melted fat

Stir in 1 cup of flour and set away to rise

When light add the remaining flour and knead until smooth and elastic

Form into loaves and place in a greased bread pan

Let rise again until nearly double in bulk and bake in a moderate oven 350 for 1 hour.
