Lady Baltimore Cake

3 cups cake flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
Whites of 3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1-1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring
Sift baking powder, salt and flour 3 times
Cream butter and gradually add sugar until thoroughly mixed
Add the flour and milk alternately, stirring until smooth
Stir in one teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring
Beat the whites stiff and fold in
Bake in layers in a moderate oven (350)
