Maple Wafers




3 tbsp butter or margarine

1/2 cup maple blended syrup

1 egg beaten

2 tbsp milk

1 cup sifted flour

1 tsp cream of tartar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 cup chopped nuts

Maple Frosting Below



Melt butter

Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup

Add egg and milk and mix well

Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt

Add to maple syrup mixture

Blend well

Fold in nuts

Chill thoroughly (batter thickens)

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet

Bake in hot oven 400F for 8 to 10 minutes

Remove cookies

Cool on racks

When cool, spread with Maple Frosting

Makes 2 dozen



Maple Frosting

Heat 1/4 cup butter until light golden brown

Stir in 1 cup sifted confectioners sugar

1/8 tsp salt

3/4 to 1 tsp maple flavoring

And 1 tbsp, hot water, or enough to make frosting that will spread smoothly on wafers
