Sweet Gherkin Fans




Slice gherkins (pickles) to within 1/2 inch of top.

Spread the finger-like slices fan shape.

This can also be done with half a gherkin cut lengthwise.

Scalloped Oranges, Grapefruit Lemons, Melons, Tomatoes, Hard-Cooked Eggs


With point of a sharp knife, cut through center of fruit, etc,

Pull apart and use as desired.

Sugar-Glazed Pineapples




1/3 cup brown sugar

4 tablespoons butter, melted

Dash of salt

Fresh Pineapple slices



Mix brown sugar, butter and salt.

Place on pineapple slices.

Place pineapple on a cookie sheet and broil 2 to 4 minutes

Serves 4 to 6

Tulip Eggs


Using as many hard boil eggs as desired

Shell and place them in red, green, or other colored water

Pick up with a large spoon and drain them on a cake cooler or towel

As soon as they are cool, with paring knife

Cut 3 rounded petals on small end of egg

Leaving about 1/2 inch space at top

Remove surplus whites of egg to show yolk

Place a whole clove in center of yolk

Insert green onion stems in large end, and arrange tulips attractively on hors d'oeuvres, meat, or salad platters

Slice pieces from undersides of eggs to prevent them from rolling

Tulips




Select medium size oval potatoes or turnips (turnips preferable)

Peel

Leaving a smooth surface, and cut 4 petals

With a potato baller or other gadget, scoop out center very carefully

Tint, and place several green toothpicks in center of each, with currants or raisins on points of toothpicks

These tulips are very attractive when arranged in an oblong container as a centerpiece for table or platter.

Wedding Bell Salad




Drain large pear halves and dry well with clean linen towel

Put 2 halves together with a ball of cream cheese in the hollows

Cut a thin slice from the larger end so it will be flat enough to stand up

Place on a crisp bed of lettuce

With a pastry tube, pipe 2 lines of cream cheese over the cracks where the pear halves meet

Stick the sharp edge of an orange section in each line of cheese

Garnish top of orange section with a cream cheese rosette and place a curved strip of green pepper to resemble a handle

Zinnias




Cut same as daisies, using 3 rounds of different sizes

Tint pastel shades, hold together with toothpicks

Place a tiny yellow carrot center on each

Sprinkle center with poppy seed or course- ground pepper
