Swedish Christmas Bird
Swedish Christmas bird is traditionally suspended over the Christmas dinner table, bringing good luck to the household.
The body of the bird is made of Bristol board or cardboard.
The wings and tail are tissue paper.
Cut 2 strips, each 5 inches wide and 9 inches long
Fold and snip the strips exactly as with the paper snowflake
Make 2 slits in the body,
With manicure scissors or embroidery scissors, widen each slit to about 1/16 inch so that the wings are tail can be slipped through
Secure both sides of the wings and tail to the body with small pieces of cellophane tape. Spread out the wings. Fasten the center to the tail together with cellophane tape so that it forms a semicircle
Suspend the bird by a thread run through the body at a point off center toward the back, making sure the bird is properly balanced
You may have to experiment to find the balance point
The birds are made in all colors and in white
