Evergreen Trees
Evergreen trees were used at Christmas in Germany, and the tradition arrived in the United States with German immigrants. The trees became so Popular that in 1923, President Calvin Coolidge presided over the first lighting of a National Christmas Tree on the White House lawn. This big event helped spread the idea of using electric lights to illuminate Christmas Trees.
