| Christmas Tree Fresh 1/4 cup micronized iron1 gallon hot water2 cups light corn syrup4 teaspoons chlorinated household bleach Mix micronized iron into hot water. Stir in corn syrup and bleach. Micronized iron does not completely dissolve. It makes a bluish, green mixture with particles which settle to bottom. Saw off a diagonal slice at least one inch from original cut. Place tree in a tree holder that will hold a generous amount of liquid. Pour in solution. Add warm tap water daily, as needed, to keep it filled. Note Micronized iron, a natural horticultural iron, is available at florist, garden supply and hardware stores under the brand names. | |
