Christmas Bells Empty
PostSubject: Christmas Bells   Christmas Bells EmptyThu Nov 06, 2008 2:57 pm

From large catherdrals to small village churches, bells have been ringing in Christmas, for centuries.

Egyptians already used bells at the Feast of Osiris, and most great civilizations there after included bells in their religious rituals.

The Christian Curch first used bells to call worshipers to mass around 400ad in Campainia Italy.

From there the custom spread across Europe.

They were usually engraved with sacred phrases, such as "Glory to God"

Some bells were given the names of saints, or even baptized.
