For You, All the Bright and the Merry
By Mary Turton Johnson
And now is the season of Christmas,
The merries time of the year,
When the frosty air rings
With the message it brings-
May your days glow with laughter and cheer.
May each hand that you clasp be in friendship
And the smile on each face be for you.
Like the lights on the tree,
May your happiness be
Ever gay, ever bright, ever new.
May each lamp be a beacon of welcome
And each door open wide at your touch.
Swift as snowflakes that fly,
May the Joys multiply
For you who have given so much.
May your day, like the tinsel, be shining,
Golden hours in a sparkling string,
And when Christmas is through,
may its memory, for you,
Be a bright and a shimmering thing.
