World War II Sailor's Duff/ steamed bread



Sailor's Duff
------------
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup hot water
Butter, size of an egg
1/2 cup light molasses
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp soda

Mix ingredients and steam for 45 minutes.
Sauce for Sailor's Duff:
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup whipped cream
Vanilla

Beat eggs, add powdered sugar. Fold in whipped cream, add vanilla.
Serves 4-6
