Almond Glaze




1/2 cup chopped or slivered unblanched almonds

2 tbsp butter

1 cup apricot or peach jam

2 to 3 tbsp water



Lightly brown almonds in butter over low heat

Add jam and water

Heat until jam melts

Drizzle over sponge or angel food cake

Peppermint Glaze


3 c sifted confectioner’s sugar

2 to 3 tbsp water

1/4 tsp red food color

1/4 tsp peppermint extract

Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth

The glaze should be thin enough to pour from a spoon

If it gets too thick while working with add a few drops of water and beat until smooth

Makes about 1 cup



Vanilla Glaze:

Omit peppermint extract and red food color

Add 1/2 tsp vanilla and make glaze as directed

German Glaze



Melt 1 bar (4oz) German’s Sweet Chocolate

And 1 tbsp of butter in ¼ cup water over low heat

Combine 1 cup sifted powdered sugar

And a dash of salt



Gradually stir in chocolate mixture and 1.2 tsp vanilla

Blend wellLet run down side of cake
