| Turkey Stuffin'
By Anna Kelly 1962
Way back in my childhood days, Those days so bright and gay, When mother cooked the festive bird On each Thanksgiving Day.
When woodfire in the old cook stove Was sputtering and hot, And luscious steaming odors came From every cooking pot.
When children laid our toys away And to the kitchen hied, And gathered round the oven door Each time she looked inside.
Sometimes she'd scrape loose stuffin' up With the spoon she used to baste, Then blow on it to cool it off And give each one a taste.
Now when Thanksgiving dinner's served With all its frills and fuss, I dream of turkey stuffin tastes My mother gave to us. | |
