| Cappuccino Brownies 1/2 cup butter or margarine3 oz unsweetened chocolate, cut up1 cup granulated sugar2 eggs1 tsp vanilla2/3 cup all purpose flour1/4 tsp baking soda1 tsp instant coffee crystals1 tbsp whipping cream1 cup sifted powdered sugar2 tbsp butter or margarineChocolate Frosting Melt the 1/2 cup butter or margarine and unsweetened chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring constantlyRemove from heat, cool slightlyStir in granulated sugarAdd eggs, one at a time, beating with a wooden spoon just until combinedStir in vanillaStir together flour and baking soda in a small bowlAdd flour mixture to chocolate mixture and stir just until combinedSpread batter in a greased 8x8x2 inch baking panBake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes Meanwhile, for topping, dissolve coffee crystals in whipping creamBeat together powdered sugar and the 2 tbsp butter or margarine in a small mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speedAdd whipping cream mixture and beat until creamyIf necessary, add a little additional whipping cream until mixture is a spreading consistencySpread over the warm browniesChill about 1 hour or until topping is setCarefully spread chocolate frosting over browniesChill until frosting is setCut into barsMakes 16 bars Chocolate Frosting Combine 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces and 1/3 cup whipping cream in small panStir over low heat until chocolate is melted and mixture begins to thicken | |
