Apple Upside Down Gingerbread Cake
45 minutes before serving preheat oven as labeled on package of gingerbread mix directions
In 9 inch square cake pan, in oven, melt 2 tbsp butter or oleo
Stir in ΒΌ cup packed light brown sugar until well mixed, spread evenly in bottom of pan.
Cut 1 large unpeeled cooking apple into 1/2in thick slices
Arrange over sugar mixture in bottom of pan
Prepare gingerbread mix as labeled directs, pour evenly over apple slices
Bake as label directs
Or until cake tester comes out clean
Cool on rack 10 min.
Than invert onto serving plate
Serve warm or cold with whipped cream
