Walnut Cinnamon Squares

Walnut/Cinnamon Squares

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg separated

2 cups sifted flour

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Cream together butter and sugar

Beat in egg yolk to mix thoroughly

Sift together flour and cinnamon, stir into creamed mixture and mix thoroughly

Spread dough evenly over bottom of lightly greased jelly roll pan

Beat egg white slightly, brush over top of dough

With fingertips, smooth surface

Sprinkle nuts over dough and press in

Bake in very slow oven 275F for 1 hour

While still hot cut in to squares

Cool in pans on racks

Makes about 5-1/2 dozen
