| English Orange Trifle 1 pkg Pillsbury date or cranberry quick bread mix Trifle Mixture1/4 to 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur or orange juice1 (3oz) pkg vanilla pudding and pie filling mix (not instant)2 cups milk1 tbsp grated orange peel1 cup whipping cream, whipped1 (12oz) jar (1-1/2 cups) orange marmalade or peach preserves Frosting1 cup whipping cream1 tbsp powdered sugar Heat oven to 350F grease and flour bottom only of 8x4 or 9x5 inch loaf panPrepare and bake quick bread mix according to pkg directionsCool completelyCut bread into 1 inch squares, place in shallow baking dishDrizzle with orange liqueurCover, let stand for about 2 hoursMeanwhile, in medium saucepan combine pudding, milk and orange peel.Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantlyBoil 1 minute, remove from heatCover surface with plastic wrapCool 1 hourFold whipped cream into cooled pudding Line 2 or 2-1/2 qt bowl with plastic wrapSpread 1 cup of the pudding mixture in bottom of bowlAdd 1/3 of bread squares, spread with 1/3 of the marmalade and 1 cup of the pudding mixtureStarting with bread squares, repeat layers 2 more timesCover with plastic wrap Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight Unmold trifle onto serving plateIn a small bowl, beat 1 cup whipping cream until soft peaks formFrost trifleGarnish as desiredRefrigerate 12 servings | |
