A Night Of Fun

By Lola Taylor Hemphill

I wish that you could be with us
On Hallowe'en at night;
We'd light a lot of candles,
And they would shine so bright
That all the little Brownies
And Goblins roundabout,
Would come and dance upon our lawn,
And sing and play and shout.

And we would give them candy
And apples shining red....
Or maybe hot fresh doughnuts
And men of gingerbread
We'd make them feel so merry
At games they're ever quick,
then slip away to elfland
Without one naughty trick.

Oh, we would have such lots of fun,
The hours would just fly by,
Until the Lady Moon had brushed
The stars out of the sky
And we would be so tired
From our toes up to our heads,
We'd climb the stairs quite gladly
And tumble in our beds.
