| Christmas Drop Cookies 1 lb dates, chopped1/2 c chopped walnuts1/2 c chopped maraschino cherries1 c sugar1 tsp vanilla3 egg whites, stiffly beaten1 c sifted flourMaraschino Cherry Pieces (for tops) Combine dates, nuts and cherriesMix in sugar and vanillaAdd egg whites to fruit mixture alternately with flour(if mixture is dry add a little cherry juice)Drop by teaspoonfuls 2" a part onto greased baking sheetTop with pieces of cherriesBake in moderate oven 350F about 20 minutes until brownedStore in airtight container they keep indefinitely, and are better with agingMakes 4 dozen | |
