Steamed Brown Bread


2 c. sour milk (may be soured with vinegar
1/2 c. molasses
1 tbls. oil
3 tbls. sugar
pinch salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. flour
2 c. graham flour

Mix well - milk molasses, oil, sugar, salt and baking soda.
Stir in white and graham flour.

This bread is steamed on top of the stove. Use a canning kettle and invert the wire rack. Fill with water
to just below the wire rack
Fill two 1lb. coffee cans with batter. Place double thickness aluminum foil over top and
secure with tight rubber bands. Keep water at a slow boil and steam for one hour.
