Old English Ginger Cones


2-1/4 c sifted flour

3/4 tsp salt

1 c butter or margarine

1/4 tsp baking soda

1-1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 c dark brown sugar, firmly packed

1 tbsp dark molasses

1 tbsp buttermilk

Sifted confectioners sugar



Combine all ingredients, except confectioner’s sugar, and mix well

Form dough into ball chill 2 hours

Shape into 1" balls roll in confectioners sugar, then pat very thin with glass dipped in confectioner’s sugar

Place 3" apart on greased baking sheet

Bake 350 for 4 minutes

Remove cookies while still hot twist over wooden spoon handle and sprinkle with sugar

Makes 1-1/2 dozen

If cookie breaks put it back in the oven for 1 minute and roll again
