| French Onion Soup 1/4 cup butter or margarine4 cups thinly sliced onion4 cans (10-1/4oz size) condensed beef bouillon, undiluted1 tsp salt4 to 6 fresh bread slices, 1 inch thick2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese Heat butter in large skilletAdd onion sauté, stirring, until golden about 8 minutesCombine onion, bouillon, and salt in medium saucepan, bring to boilingReduce heat, and simmer, covered, 30 minutesMeanwhile, toast bread slices in broiler until browned on both sidesSprinkle one side of each with some of grated cheese, run under broiler about 1 minute, or until cheese is bubblyTo serve, Pour into a tureen or individual soup bowls.Flat toast, cheese side up on soupMakes 4 to 6 servings | |
